Cost questions, answered straight

How much does hair loss treatment cost in the UK?

At WMG Meds it starts at £21 a month equivalent for oral minoxidil, and £30 for a month of finasteride. Compounded topicals cost more because they are made to order rather than mass-produced. There is no separate consultation fee, and postage is £7 per order whatever you buy.

Why are some clinics cheaper than this?

Mostly because they are selling a product rather than a service. A £13 a month subscription buys you generic finasteride and a questionnaire signed off remotely. What you pay more for here is a named GMC-registered doctor reviewing your case against your history, scheduled follow-up, and a CQC-registered clinical provider behind the prescription. Whether that is worth the difference is a fair question, and the honest answer is that for a straightforward case it may not be.

Do I pay before or after the clinical review?

After. You complete the assessment for free, a doctor reviews it, and you are only charged if treatment is approved and you choose to go ahead. Nobody is charged for being turned down.

Is it cheaper to buy several months at once?

Yes for most items. Finasteride drops from £30 for one month to £80 for three, and dutasteride steps down again at six and twelve months. Oral minoxidil is sold in a single 60-tablet pack, which is roughly two months at the standard dose.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. The price you see is the price charged, plus £7 postage per order. Blood tests, where a clinician thinks they are needed, are arranged through WMG Healthcare and quoted separately before anything is booked.
